Longtime Arizona Senator John McCain passed away on Saturday at age 81. Although his cause of death was said to be an aggressive form of brain cancer, some people believe that Big Pharma’s questionable practices had a hand in his passing.
However, the same can be said for many people’s deaths – especially when cancer is involved. Big Pharma, like many businesses, is concerned about its bottom line above all else. The difference between the pharmaceutical industry and other businesses, however, is that lives are on the line and this blind pursuit of profit comes at a very real and devastating expense.
So how could Big Pharma be responsible for McCain’s death? After all, he was a man with a deadly disease who also happened to be of an advanced age. However, it could be that a combination of their actions and inaction tipped the odds against him.
Glioblastoma, the highly malignant type of brain cancer that McCain had, may be very difficult to treat, but it’s inaccurate to say that nothing can help, according to All News Pipeline. They point out that studies going back to 2007 show that eating raw garlic releases organic compounds that kill brain tumors. In fact, a study reported by the National Health Service in the U.K. showed that consuming raw garlic successfully killed glioblastoma.
This was followed by an article in the U.S. National Institutes of Health that was published in July 2014 about a study that discovered that a compound derived from garlic could successfully fight glioblastoma.
Unfortunately, few people are aware that raw garlic can help with this type of cancer. While doctors are quick to recommend highly invasive surgery and chemotherapy, very few mention garlic’s potential to their patients. Those who are unwilling to undergo traditional cancer treatment for whatever reason have little to lose by trying it.
According to Healthline, overheating garlic will kill the beneficial compounds. The best way to get garlic’s health benefits is by ensuring it is chopped or broken down beforehand and consumed raw. It’s a good idea to let it sit for around 15 minutes after crushing it so the alliinase enzyme can be released; this is what causes the brain-protecting organic sulfur compounds to form.
As you can see, there isn’t really a way for Big Pharma to make a lot of money off of garlic, which is why dangerous pills and surgery are pushed on cancer patients instead. There is a growing body of evidence that chemotherapy drugs can cause cancer and make it worse in those who already have it, yet doctors continue to recommend it people. Chemotherapy drugs can spur tumor growth, multiplying cancers and leading to quicker death.
McCain underwent chemotherapy as well as radiation treatment at the Mayo Clinic, but his family announced shortly before his death that he had decided to end his medical treatment 13 months after being diagnosed. Unfortunately, when glioblastomas have been treated conventionally, they may stop temporarily, but they nearly always come back eventually – and when they do, they are stronger and have adapted to the first-line treatments.
Sadly, a lot of people are victims of Big Pharma. Whether it’s those who have died due to the efforts of pharmaceutical companies to keep natural treatments out of the limelight that could have helped them or those who are alive but damaging their bodies with dangerous medications every day, it’s a growing problem that seems unlikely to subside as long as these big-money companies are allowed to call the shots with regulators.
